Death With Dignity and Dementia with Peg Sandeen
In this episode, Peg Sandeen, the CEO of Death with Dignity in Portland, OR, and a social worker with 25+ years experience in end-of-life care, talks with us about the Death with Dignity laws, assisted dying and the limits of physicians assisted suicide and dementia.
We learned the criteria in accessing Death with Dignity and why folks with dementia currently do not qualify- as well as which countries have legal euthanasia. Peg discusses the importance of the POLST/MOLST forms and having a healthcare agent that knows and will follow your wishes.
